The Turtle Mountain Ag Society received a sizable grant from the Boissevain and Morton Foundation last month to purchase a new portable outdoor stage.

Local Ag Society Secretary Treasurer, Nicole Fordyce, says this was something the entire community has needed for quite some time, and they’re thrilled to be able to purchase it for the community of Boissevain-Morton to use.

“We currently borrow one from a gentlemen from out west and we’re just to the point where we thought maybe it would be beneficial to have one in the community, not just for us, but for everyone to be able to use it for an event up town or in the area," explains Fordyce.

The $11,500 grant will pay for the bulk of the new portable stage.  The flat deck trailer will be approximately 12’x 30’ and will be able to accommodate a full size band.  “We’re hoping the grant will pay for at least 75% of it, if not then we’ll put in some money that we’ve fund-raised ourselves, and go from there.”

The wish list going forward might include some upgrades to the Ag Society barn facilities.  “Nothing is on the list for sure, but I think we’re going to have to address the barns and some of the other buildings that need some fixing up and refurbishing.”

Fordyce says the Ag Society is currently planning for the 2022 Boissevain Summer Fair.  “We don’t know what that’s going to look like yet, but we’ll definitely have something, that’s for sure!”

And that will include the new portable outdoor stage!
