RM of Daly Reeve Evan Smith, MLA Drew Caldwell,Chris Kennedy, representing MP Merv Tweed, Al Morken Mayor of Rivers

 

Sod was turned Saturday on new 6.3 million dollar arena complex in Rivers.

Mayor Al Morken says it was 9 years in the making.

 


The project is being cost shared by the town, R-M of Daly and the federal and provincial governments.


Morken says a local fund raising committee has raised 500,000-dollars and will have to raise another 1 million dollars for the project.


The new complex should be open by late 2011 or early 2012.
