The Boissevain Broncos, Virden Bears and host Raiders will be competing at the Provincial A/AA Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball Championship in Killarney. The Broncos, Elton Sabres and host Warriors are competing at the A/AA JV Boys Championship in Wawanesa. Neelin boys and girls will be at the AAA JV Championships that start Saturday in Winnipeg. The Vincent Massey Vikings boys and girls volleyball teams will play in the round of 16 at the Provincial AAAA Junior Varsity Championships today in Winnipeg. The boys will meet Garden City and the girls will take on St. Mary's Academy. Both Vincent Massey teams will play this afternoon in the round of 16 at the Provincial AAAA Varsity Volleyball Championships in Wpg. The boys meet Dakota Collegiate and the girls take on College Jeanne-Sauve.


Tracy Fleury, Selena Njegovan, Liz Fyfe and Kristin MacCuish of the East St. Paul Curling Club will play in the final at the 2021 Canadian Curling Trials in Saskatoon. Fleury defeated Casey Scheidegger of Lethbridge 10-3 Thursday night and improved her round robin record to 7-0. Jennifer Jones, Kaitlyn Lawes, Jocelyn Peterman and Dawn McEwen of the St. Vital Curling Club are 5-2 and will play in the semifinals on Saturday. Kerri Einarson of the Gimli Curling Club outscored Rachel Homan of Ottawa 7-6 on the late draw Thursday and is 4-3. Einarson, Val Sweeting, Shannon Birchard and Briane Meilleur will join Fleury and Jones in the playoffs with a win this afternoon over Kelsey Rocque of Edmonton in the final round robin draw. Fleury's final round robin game is against Jones. 


Three Winnipeg Blue Bombers are finalists for the CFL's Most Outstanding Player Awards. Quarterback Zach Collaros is a finalist for the Most Outstanding Player award; linebacker Adam Bighill is in the running for Outstanding Defensive Player and Stanley Bryant is a finalist for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman. Montreal Alouettes running back William Stanback is the East finalist for Most Outstanding Player. Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebacker Simoni Lawrence is the finalist for Outstanding Defensive Player and Brandon Revenberg of the Tiger-Cats is the East nominee for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman. Winnipeg's Mike O'Shea is a finalist for Coach of the Year honours.
