The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 108th Grey Cup Sunday at Tim Hortons Field. Andrew Harris ran for 136 yards and a touchdown as the Blue Bombers defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 21-17 in the West Division final at IG Field. Zach Collaros completed 17-of-21 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown to Rasheed Bailey. Back up quarterback Sean McGuire had a one yard touchdown plunge. The Bombers won despite turning the ball over six times. The Tiger-Cats rallied from a 12-0 first half deficit and downed Toronto 27-19 in the East final. Winnipeg beat Hamilton, 33-12 in the 2019 Grey Cup in Calgary. The 2020 CFL season was cancelled due to COVID-19.


Andrew Copp, Evgeny Svechnikov, Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers scored second period goals in the Winnipeg Jets 6-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Canada Life Centre. Pierre-Luc Dubois and Mark Scheifele also scored for the Jets. Michael Bunting, Auston Matthews and Ondrej Kase replied for the Leafs. Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves. Jets captain Blake Wheeler recorded a pair of assists in his 1,000 career NHL game. 


Jayce Thompson and Dawson Andries scored two goals each as the Southwest Cougars downed the Kenora Thistles 5-2 Sunday in Souris. Luke Mackenzie also scored for the Cougars who received a 23-save performance from Kai Bennett.


The Westman Wildcats played a pair of games this past weekend at the Hockey United Showcase at Bell MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg. The Wildcats lost 6-1 to the Balmoral Hall Bazers Saturday and beat the St. Mary's Academy Flames 4-1 on Sunday. Mckenna Beard, Brooklyn Franklin, Addison Vines and Callie Rice did the goal scoring for the Wildcats


Dylan Halliday, Braden Fischer and Bryden Kiesman scored power play goals in the Virden Oil Capitals 3-1 victory over the Flyers in Winkler. Eric Reid made 32 saves for the Oil Capitals who are riding a season high three-game winning streak. 


The playoffs take place today at the DEKALB SuperSpiel in Morris. The eight men's qualifiers are Kody Hartung (Saskatoon), Colton Lott (Winnipeg), Luc Violette (Chaska, Minnesota), Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton), Daniel Casper (Chaska, Minnesota), Andrin Schnider (Switzerland), Jason Gunnlaugson (Morris) and 2019 champion Tanner Horgan (Kingston). The eight women's qualifiers are Kayla McMillan (Vancouver), Amber Holland (Kronau), Chelsea Carey (Regina), Rachel Workin (Fargo, North Dakota), Beth Peterson (Winnipeg), Irene Schori (Switzerland), Darcy Robertson (Winnipeg) and Hollie Duncan (Woodstock).


Both Manitoba teams play their opening round robin games at 11 a.m. at the Canadian Senior Curling Championships in Sault Ste. Marie. Randy Neufeld will meet Terry Odishaw of New Brunswick and Kim Link will take on Stacey Szajewski of Northern Ontario.
