The Killarney Shamrocks, Virden Oil Kings, Cartwright Clippers and Pilot Mound Pilots were winners in the Tiger Hills Hockey League Saturday night. Jason Swyripa scored twice and Reid Gow had a pair of assists in the Shamrocks 6-3 victory over the Blues in Hartney. Derek Cross and Tanner Lewis scored two goals each as the Oil Kings doubled up on the Souris Elks 8-4. Tanner Fluker and Bryce Enns each had two goals and an assist as the Clippers beat the Wawanesa Jets 5-2 and Luke Van de Velde scored this third goal of the game 65 seconds into overtime to lift the Pilots past the Carberry Plainsmen 7-6.


Jayce Thompson scored twice and Ashton Cuvelier chipped in with three assists as the Southwest Cougars defeated the Interlake Lightning 7-5 in Stonewall. Garrett MacDonald, Darren Hunt, Josh Fluker, Nicholas Cullen and Jackson Hofer also scored for the Cougars who improved to 14-6 and moved within four points of the Winnipeg Wild who hold down second place in the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League.


Matthew Savoie scored twice and Connor McClennon had a pair of assists as the Winnipeg Ice beat the Tigers 4-2 in Medicine Hat. The Western Hockey League’s East Division leading Ice have won 19 of their first 20 games this season.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers gave up 10 points in the final two minutes and lost their regular season finale 13-12 to the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium. Sergio Castillo was good on four of five field goal attempts as the Winnipeg kicker accounted for all the Bombers scoring. Johnny Augustine carried the ball 22 times for 148 yards. Winnipeg will host the CFL’s West Division final on December 5th. The Stampeders meet the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina next Sunday in the Division semifinal.
