The Southwest Cougars gave up a pair of third period goals and lost 3-2 to the Pembina Valley Hawks at the Shamrock Centre in Killarney.  Ashton Cuvelier and Nicholas Cullen did the goal scoring for the Cougars who outshot the Hawks 53-28. Southwest lead 2-0 until Hawks forward Keston Worley scored with 36 seconds left in the second period. The Cougars reached the midway point of the 2021-22 Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League season in fourth place with a 14-8 record. 


The Brandon Wheat Kings gave up three goals in the first 14 minutes and lost 3-0 to Swift Current. Broncos netminder Isaac Poulter made 47 saves in recording the shutout. Brandon's Ethan Kruger faced only 14 shots. 


Captain Ridly Greig and defenceman Vincent Iorio of the Brandon Wheat Kings were among 35 players  invited to Canada's National Junior Hockey Team Selection Camp which will be held December 9th-12th in Calgary. Also receiving invites were defencemen Carson Lambos of the Winnipeg Ice and Brandon's Daemon Hunt of the Moose Jaw Warriors along with Manitoba Moose forward Cole Perfetti.  The players, including three goaltenders, 11 defencemen and 21 forwards, will compete for a chance to represent Canada at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, December 26th-January 5th in Edmonton and Red Deer.


Trevor Loreth of the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg has a 4-0 round robin record and Deb McCreanor of the La Salle Curling Club is 3-2 at the Canadian Curling Club Championships in Ottawa. Loreth defeated Darren Frycz of British Columbia 9-3 and Michael Dobson of New Brunswick 6-3. McCreanor outscored Elaine Robson of Saskatchewan 5-4 and lost 8-4 to Denise Hutchings of Nunavut.
