The Brandon Wheat Kings opened their four-game road trip Tuesday night in Moose Jaw. Dominion City's Denton Mateychuk scored the shootout winner to lift the Warriors past Brandon 4-3. Riley Ginnell, Marcus Kallionkieli and Nate Danielson scored in regulation for the Wheat Kings who trailed 3-1 after 40 minutes. 


Rayvn Wiebe is the Canada West Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week. The Morden native had 15 kills in 35 attempts as the Brandon Bobcats swept the University of Manitoba Bisons in three straight sets last Friday. On Saturday, in a five-set win over the U of M, Wiebe again led Brandon in kills with 14 while adding eight digs, five block assists and three aces. The Bobcats captain leads the Conference with 94 total kills this season. 


Deb McCreanor of the La Salle Curling Club has a 2-1 record and Trevor Loreth of the Granite is 2-0 at the Canadian Curling Club Championships in Ottawa. McCreanor lost 8-2 to Tracey Larocque of Northern Ontario and beat Shelly Bradley of Prince Edward Island 7-4. Loreth won his lone game of the day 7-3 over Mark Robertson of Northwest Territories.
