With Growing Forward 2 set to expire in 2018, there's a lot of discussion around what Canada's next agricultural policy framework should look like.

It's an issue the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) has been looking at.

Ron Bonnett, president of the CFA, says they've released a report which focuses on the next agriculture policy framework, and positioning Canadian agriculture for success.

The report touches on a wide variety of areas from climate change adaptation to developing a national food policy. Bonnett explains it also focuses on improving Canada's rural infrastructure.

"Looking at making sure we've got highspeed Internet access, we've got a road system that can get our products to the market," he says, "we could get into a discussion about the rail system as well and making sure it has the capacity to deliver particularly grain crops to the market."

The report also looks at business risk management programs, investing in research, and promoting the value-added sector..
