The Canola Council of Canada's Annual Convention wrapped up Thursday in Winnipeg.

The event marked the 50th anniversary of the Canola Council.

Director of Communications Heidi Dancho said it was a busy couple of days.

"We're really happy we have a great turnout of delegates," she commented. "Opportunity to celebrate our history but also to look forward to the future, to the next 25 or 50 years."

She adds some of the key topics discussed included innovation, as well as issues related to the global economy.

One of the highlights from Thursday was a panel discussion surrounding the future of canola that featured the heads of Cargill, Viterra, and Bunge.

The convention also featured a traveling exhibit from the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum in Ottawa, that showcased the story of canola.
