Corn growers are having varied levels of success with seeding this spring.

Morgan Cott, field agronomist with the Manitoba Corn Growers Association, says seeding in the Red River Valley is almost complete, while areas east and west are not as advanced.

Cott says she has received reports of corn already starting to emerge.

"Within the last few days there has been a little bit," she said. "And a little bit of cutworms I've heard of, so that's something to watch out for. I think this weekend will be a big weekend for corn emerging and start to see a lot more I think."

Cott notes that producers probably have about another week or so to get their corn into the ground - after that it will be too late.
