Harvest progress in Manitoba is still sitting at about 96 per cent. Grain corn is about 65 per cent complete, sunflowers are roughly 40 per cent done, and flax is at approximately 60 per cent. Other crops such as canola, soybean, and spring wheat also remain.

The wet, cool conditions have made it difficult for farmers to get back out into the field to finish up harvest and fall field work.

Pam de Rocquigny of Manitoba Agriculture says quality is starting to become a concern with some crops.

"For any crops such as our spring cereals that are still out there, obviously quality is definitely going to be impacted," she explained. "Where as canola tends to be a crop that tends to hold its quality a little bit better depending on conditions as well though. It really will vary from field to field by crop type. Obviously, the longer the crop stays out there the more impact that the weather can have on the quality of it."

De Rocquigny notes many producers are hoping for freezing temperatures so that they can get back out onto the field without sinking into the wet soil.
