Social media, customer engagement and business design were a few of the topics discussed this past weekend at the third annual Direct Farm Conference (formerly Small Farms Conference) held in Winnipeg.

This was the first get together since the amalgamation of Small Farms Manitoba and Direct Farm Manitoba.

Events coordinator Kalynn Spain says the marriage has been working out well for both parties.

"We can now work together collaboratively on the changes that we want to see in the province, so not only at the policy level but then also thinking about more cross-sector relationships," she commented.

Spain noted that one of the big issues discussed during the event was the new Specialty Quota Program announced by Manitoba Chicken Producers, which she says will affect all parties involved in the value chain.

Spain noted there were over 160 people in attendance, including a lot of new faces.
