Maple Leaf Foods has announced that it's cutting more than 400 salaried jobs.

The company says the move was made to trim costs and streamline the organization.

Most of the cuts are expected to be made before the end of the year, with the remaining cuts set to take place in 2016.

Maple Leaf is nearing the end of a massive restructuring plan and has been cutting costs by combining some of its plants and closing others as well as reducing the number of distribution centres.

The company employs about 12,000 people in Canada.
