June 30th is the deadline for producers to file their Seeded Acreage Reports with Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation (MASC).

The survey, which determines billing for the upcoming year, asks for the crop type seeded, acres, varieties, and seeding date.

David Koroscil, manager of insurance projects and sales with MASC, says its important that applicants respond by the end of the month.

"If they do not get their forms in by June 30th, they will be charged a late filing fee and more importantly what happens after that is we need to go out and inspect their operations, determine what condition their crops are in at that time. So if they have crops that are suffering or are in a potential claim position they could be losing out on a potential claim for the condition of the the crop at that time. We'll accept the liability for the rest of the year but only based on the crop potential at the time that we look at it."

Producers who file late will be responsible for the costs of the MASC inspection in addition to a $100 late penalty.

Koroscil notes producers can mail back the paper copy that was sent out in the mail in mid-May or they can fill out the form on-line.
