The Prairie Oat Growers Association (POGA) has launched a campaign to promote Canadian oats in Mexico.

The organization has partnered with Emerging Ag on the endeavor.

Paulina Ceballos works for the consulting firm and says that Mexico is one of the biggest importers of oats in the world. She adds that Canada is the main provider of oats to Mexico.

According to Ceballos, most of the Canadian oats imported into Mexico are used for porridge and other human consumption.

Ceballos notes that Mexico is a leading country when it comes to childhood obesity, adding the Mexican government is trying to promote oats as a healthy dietary requirement.
