Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers has released its soybean trial data for the current year.

Production Specialist Kristen Podolsky talks about the trends they saw in 2015.

"What's unique about the data this year is that we really see the check variety perform well across all sites, even in the earlier season sites which historically we tend to grow shorter season varieties because of the typically shorter growing season," she said. "Because all areas experienced such a long warm season this year, we really saw the genetic potential of the longer season varieties."

Podolsky noted that the province was divided up into three zones in the east including the long zone (Morden and Rosebank), mid-season zone (Carman, Morris, Portage, St. Adolphe), and the early sites in Beausejour and Stonewall. Data was also collected for western Manitoba including sites in Melita, Hamiota, and a new site in Dauphin.

She adds this information is beneficial for producers choosing a variety for 2016.

The soybean trial data was mailed out to producers in the latest issue of Pulse Beat magazine.

It will also be available in the Seed Manitoba publication, and can be found online at manitobapulse.ca
