Portage Hosts Soybean Production Meeting

Portage la Prairie was the site of Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers' third annual “Getting It Right” soybean production meeting held Thursday.

About 120 producers were in attendance at the Canad Inns Destination Centre.

Director of Research and Production Laryssa Grenkow says the event is a great opportunity for producers to see where their research dollars are going, while it also provides production support and is a great networking opportunity.

“It's only farmers, our presenters are all from public institutions, so I think it's a really good opportunity for them to feel comfortable in asking the questions that they otherwise wouldn't ask,” she commented.

Soil was the main focus of this year's event with topics including Iron Deficiency Chlorosis and tillage and residue management.

The meeting concluded with table talk discussions and a networking session.
