Over the past week rain quenched thristy fields, allowing for good crop growth and emergence throughout Manitoba.

The weekly crop report, released on Monday, shows amounts of precipitation varied across the province, although Manitoba Agriculture's Pam de Rocquigny says it was welcome in most areas.

De Rocquigny says they'll be monitoring rainfall amounts as more precipitation passes through the province this week.

"We'll see how much more we get, and kind of what impact that will have," she says, "obviously we did say in the central region, some areas were definitely reporting excessive amounts in terms of seeing crops standing in the fields and those types of things. So we'll wait to see how much more is added to that and kind of what impact (it has). And of course we'll see what follows up after that, and if we get a period of warm, dry weather, that's always helpful too."

At this point, de Rocquigny says some low-lying areas of fields in Manitoba are under water, but things vary field-by-field.
