The President of the Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada says the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) hold lots of potential for Canada's agriculture manufacturers.

Leah Olson, who recently took part in a round table discussion in Regina about the deal, says it would reduce barriers for Canadian farm equipment to move into countries like Australia.

"I mean, they have a double harvest, so for an equipment manufacturer, that is a really great opportunity," Olson says. "The other ones, I think, are also well known — the United States. This (would) just affirm and make our relationship with the U.S. that much stronger. For many of our members, their equipment goes north/south more than it goes east/west."

Olson would like to see the multilateral trade pact ratified.

Canada's International Trade Minister Chrystia Freeland has said Canada will sign the TPP agreement this week in New Zealand, but this doesn't mean the deal will be ratified.
