Travelers passing through Winnipeg's James Armstrong Richardson International Airport this month are getting a crash course on canola.

A traveling exhibit entitled "Canola: A Canadian Story of Innovation" is on display at the airport until March 23. It's on loan from the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum in Ottawa. The display was unveiled earlier this month at the Canola Council of Canada's annual convention in Winnipeg.

Kelly Green is the director of communications with the Canadian Canola Growers Association.

She explains what the exhibit is all about.

"The travelling exhibition really talks about all the bits and pieces of canola from how we grow canola, the plant breeding story behind canola and innovation, it talks about the processing in the industry, the health benefits of canola, the feed uses of canola and also the economic impact that canola has in Canada," commented Green. "So it's really our entire story packed into about 500 square feet."

The interactive display will make its way across Canada over the next five years.

A brand new long-term canola exhibition will open at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum in Ottawa this summer, as Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary.
