Trends are looking good for U.S. pork exports, although demand differs by export destination, according to Tyler Fulton of h@ms Marketing Services.

Fulton says while China has showed really robust increases in pork imports from the U.S., Mexico showed a nine per cent reduction.

Fulton says Mexico is a bigger and more consistent player in buying pork from the U.S., although increases from China were a good sign for pork exports.

"Overall, because of the big jump in China, we did see an improvement, where we're running at levels (that are) probably some of the best we've seen over the last year, but still far under what we saw, for example, three or four years ago," he says.

Fulton says the recent general depreciation in the U.S. dollar has made American exports more competitive on the world market.
