Manitoba Agriculture's weekly crop report shows rapid growth across most of the province, thanks to the hot and humid weather over the past week. Generally, most crops are rated to be in good condition, although there is some variation across the province.

The report also says a majority of acres and crop types are also in the flowering and grain fill stages of development.

"Probably the only exceptions to that would be our later seeded canola crops that were reseeded either due to those frost events in May, or just due to a later seeding date," says Manitoba Agriculture's cereal specialist, Pam De Rocquigny. "Most of our corn acres will probably have the first tassles starting to appear this week, so they're in those vegetative stages of development, but we expect to see them start to tassle and to silk within the next couple of days."

Good weather conditions also allowed producers to make good progress with haying operations. Yields are average to below average, with some good quality reported.

Although many areas did receive much needed rainfall, some areas could still do with more precipitation.
