With great response from those loving the outdoors, Moonlight Canopies had a busy summer renting out their 3 canopies at Pleasant Valley, being fully booked once they were up and running.

Owner, Cassandra Jamieson, says the experience, called ‘glamping’, attracts those who want to be surrounded by the beautiful outdoors in a unique way.

“It’s not like having a cabin with all the comforts of home,” explains Jamieson.  “We try to make it as similar to what you might expect if you would combine camping with a hotel.  You are still in nature, you will still hear the sounds of birds, and deer walking through.”

“And of course, you’ll see the sun coming up which a lot of people enjoy the big lake with the sunset,” she continues.  “You’ve got big, beautiful bay windows and the skylight which is perfect for star gazing.”

The units are located between Holes 9 and 18 on the Pleasant Valley Golf Course.  Built to withstand all levels of weather, and in all seasons, Jamieson says they’re making sure they’re ready to go for winter renters.

“Right now, we’re at 92% occupancy.  The 8% is saved for maintenance so we can get in and make sure everything is up to par.  We’re full right through, both weekends and weekdays.”

“We knew there would be a certain niche market that would be attracted to this style, but we didn’t quite expect the demand that we received,” she adds.  “So, we’re very pleased with where it’s going.”

People are starting to look more for unique experiences and Manitoba certainly, has a lot to offer,” she shares.  “There still aren’t going to be a lot of people travelling anytime soon, and this is something they can look forward to year after year to bring their families down, or perhaps bring a small wedding party.”

“We’ve had everything,” adds Jamieson.  “We’ve had wellness groups come and even individuals who just want to escape and simply relax.”
