Assault

On 2024-05-02, police received a report from a 16-year-old youth that they had previously been assaulted while at a high school.  The suspect was identified as another 16-year-old student that had kicked and dumped coffee on the victim.  No injuries were sustained to the victim.  On 2024-05-09, the accused turned themselves in to BPS.  The youth has been released with conditions to appear in court 2024-07-16 for the charge of assault.

Failure to Comply with Release Order X3

On the morning of 2024-05-10, police conducted a pedestrian stop with an individual in the 200 block of 11th Street.  A check of police records revealed the 33-year-old male to be bound by a release order with the condition of being confined to his residence 24 hrs a day, and to not attend the City of Brandon.  Subject to arrest, the accused was found to be in possession of a knife which is also contrary to an additional condition of his release order.  The male has been lodged at BPS and will appear in court 2024-05-10.

Warrant

On the afternoon of 2024-05-10, police attended to a residence in the 1000 block of 26th Street to conduct a check for an individual with an outstanding warrant.  A 24-year-old female has been lodged at BPS and will appear in court 2024-05-10.

Theft Under $5000

On 2024-04-01, police received a report of a theft of meat products from a business located in the 1000 block of Richmond Avenue.  A 34-year-old male was identified via video surveillance and on 2024-05-09, police attended to the Brandon Correctional Centre where the accused is in custody on other charges.  The male will appear in court 2024-05-10 for the charge of Theft Under $5000.

Vehicle Fire

On the evening of 2024-05-09, police attended to a vehicle fire in the rear laneway of the 1400 block of 6th Street.  A 2005 Chevrolet Optra was found to be fully engulfed in flames and a complete loss.  Investigation revealed that a 9-year-old male was responsible as he had utilized a lighter to ignite the seat of the vehicle.  As the age of the youth does not permit the implementation of police enforcement, the child was turned over a guardian.

Warrant/Resist Arrest/Possession of Meth

On the evening of 2024-05-09, police observed a male in the 600 block of 9th Street that was known to have an outstanding warrant.  The officer attempted to arrest the individual for the warrant, whereby a foot chase ensued and a taser deployment was utilized to subdue the suspect.  A search incident to arrest resulted in locating a small amount of crystal meth.  The 37-year-old male’s warrant was for failing to attend court for the charges of FTC Probation, Possess Prohibited Weapon, Carry Concealed Prohibited Device, Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Break, Enter and Commit Mischief, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  The accused was provided precautionary medical clearance prior to being lodged at BPS, where he will appear in court for his warrant and the new charges of Resist Arrest and Possession of Crystal Meth.

Assault

On 2024-05-07, police received a report of an assault, which occurred to a 15-year- old youth after school on 2024-05-06.  On 2024-05-07, the parent of the assaulted youth made an attempt to discuss the incident with the 16-year-old suspect and guardian.  In doing so, the parent of the victim was assaulted by the parent and youth.  No medical attention was required.  On 2024-05-09, the 16-year-old youth and 41-year-old male guardian were released with conditions to appear in court 2024-05-08 and 2024-05-09 for the charges of Assault.

Warrant

On the evening of 2024-05-09, police attended to a residence in the 100 block of 10th Street.  A check of police records for an involved 29-year-old male, revealed an outstanding warrant of arrest.  The accused has been released with conditions to appear in court 2024-05-13.

Warrant

On 2024-05-10, police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle in the 1800 block of Middleton Avenue.  A check of police records for the 46-year-old male operator revealed an outstanding warrant of arrest.  The accused was released with conditions to appear in court 2024-07-03.

Breach of Peace

On 2024-05-10, police attended to the hospital as staff reported a male was causing a disturbance and throwing rocks at people.  A 57-year-old male was arrested to prevent a continuation of public disruptions, and will be released from custody in the morning.
