The new director of the University of Manitoba's School of Agriculture is looking for feedback from farmers, alumni and the ag community.

"We're in the process of consulting with alumni, producers and agribusiness about our school's programs - the diploma program and our short-courses as well," says Michelle Rogalsky, who stepped into the role last month. "I'd sure like to hear from people in the industry, what they identify as needs for agriculture training."

The School coordinates the two year agriculture diploma program, as well as a number of certificate, non-credit and professional development programs.

"The diploma program is undergoing a major curriculum review in the next while, so that's a major process. As well, one of the mandates that I have is to expand our short-course, non-credit offerings to meet the needs of the ag community," she says.

She says the diploma program remains a key pillar for the school.

"The graduates of this program are active in production and in agribusiness. Employment opportunites for our graduates are strong and our graduates are really active in rural leadership issues, so the diploma program continues to be one of our major strengths," says Rogalsky.

Rogalsky can be contacted at (204)-474-9262.
