Lobby efforts to get the Association of Manitoba Municipalities convention back to Brandon have paid off.

Delegates at the AMM convention in Winnipeg voted Monday afternoon 85 percent in favour of Brandon hosting the convention every other year.

Brandon Mayor Shari Decter-Hirst was pleased with the vote.

The issue surfaced after some officials felt Brandon didn't have enough hotel rooms to accomodate the convention delegates.

Brandon's civic leaders and hoteliers have assured everyone there will be enough rooms when the convention comes back to the Brandon in 2011.

The vote was 506 to 95 in favour of Brandon continuing to host the convention.
