The Manitoba Wildlife Federation will be hosting their 10th Annual Wild at Heart Banquet at the end of October, this to raise funds for the MWF's many outdoor programs.

"All of the money raised goes into funding our various programs and events throughout the year, such as our mentor hunts, Becoming an Outdoors Woman weekend, First Shot, our Ice-Fishing Festival, our Hunters Education Program, our Learn to Fish event, and all of our staff to coordinate and deliver all of these great programs," explains Event and Membership Coordinator, Dawn Scarfe.

"It's a wonderful evening and the Victoria Inn does a beautiful job," she shares. "It's a full prime-rib meal and the room is full of wonderful prizes and lots of people!"

The MWF was established in 1944, and now has nearly 15,000 members in 100 affiliate clubs throughout Manitoba. The MWF is the provinces oldest and largest conservation organization representing the interests of Manitoba’s hunters, anglers, trappers and sport shooters.  They have a diverse mission, which includes promoting conservation, angling, hunting, trapping, and outdoor-oriented activities.

"As a non-profit organization we are also dedicated to conservation and sustaining populations of fish, wildlife, habitat and resources though our advocacy, education, and conservation programs," she says.

As a member of the Killarney Wildlife Association, I personally applaud the efforts of the Manitoba Wildlife Federation as they advocate for all Manitobans; from striving to control the spread of aquatic invasive species in our lakes, and Chronic Wasting Disease in our deer family populations, to mentoring young hunters, facilitating hunter safety programs, advocating to help restore our moose populations, to advocating for more Conservation Officers and equipment, and these are just a few.

Scarfe says attending the Wild at Heart banquet is all about supporting the Manitoba Wildlife Federation for how they advocate for Manitobans, how they support the many outdoor activities that we love to do including fishing and hunting. But it's also about being in a room with like-minded people who support the MWF, who love the outdoor adventures that Manitoba offers, and to support the organization that advocates for everything we love about our Province.

The banquet also raises awareness of all the programs the MWF facilitates, those that have been in place for years, and new programs that are being added.

This year's list of items on the auction block is amazing, says Scarfe, including a new fishing boat, motor and trailer, as well as trips to Churchill, an Africa Safari, an Argentina Safari, and more!

Silent Auction and Bucket Draw prizes will be plenty as usual, everything from camping and hunting gear to household items, works of arts and much, much more!  "Lots of prizes and lots of fun!" she adds.

The MWF Wild at Heart Banquet will be held Saturday, October 28th.
