It took several years to plan; fund raise and construct but the new aquatic centre in Boissevain is attracting lots of patrons and high praise.

The former pool built in the 1960’s had run its course and needed to be replaced. The new pool has room for more people and offers many more swimming options.

Boissevain-Morton Head of Council Judy Swanson is pleased with the finished product and says it’s nice to have the new pool up and running. “It’s nice to see the kids and adults making use of the pool and what it has to offer.”

“Staffing can sometimes present an issue, but Wendy has done a great job of getting lifeguards in place so we’re good to go and This Thursday we’re holding a grand opening for the new aquatic centre.”

People are encouraged to come out and see what the pool has for amenities.

“This pool is accessible for everyone and gives people another reason to visit or to make Boissevain their home. It’s a wonderful addition to our community and we’re really pleased.”

Thursday’s grand opening will include some speeches and the ribbon cutting. That will be followed by tours, a bbq and free public swimming. The program starts Thursday afternoon at 2:30pm.

“The project cost roughly $3 million, we came in under budget and it’s paid off and we didn’t have to do a debenture so we’re very pleased about that,” said Judy Swanson.
