Canada’s women’s hockey team is just two weeks away from stepping on the ice and beginning their quest for gold at the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing.

Defenseman Ashton Bell will be competing in her first Olympics.

The 22-year-old Deloraine native is one of five rookie blueliners on Canada’s roster.

Bell, who spent the past four years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, played for Canada and brought home silver medals from both the 2016 & 2017 World 18 Hockey Championships.

Canada will play its preliminary round opener at the Winter Games against Switzerland on February 2nd.

Canada’s other games are against the United States, Finland and ROC.

All five teams from Group A automatically qualify for the quarterfinals.

Clayton Dreger asked Ashton Bell how it felt to be named to Canada’s 23-player roster for the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing
