A bible camp in southwestern Manitoba has started looking for summer staff.

Turtle Mountain Bible Camp (TMBC) between Deloraine and Boissevain hosts hundreds of youth and adult campers every year. “We’d say last year was incredible and blew past all of our expectations,” said Assistant director Chelsie Zylstra.

One unknown for camp officials is how many staff and volunteers will be on hand to help with the camps in 2023.

“Going into this summer we’re really excited and camper registrations have opened, and kids are already signing up online for their week of camp. One thing we don’t know is our staff team and volunteers are very low right now, lower than previous years. We’re trying to come up with ideas on how to reach people and see who’d like to spend time at camp, so it runs right for the kids.”

Chelsie Zylstra says it’s crucial to have workers because kids can’t come to camp if they don’t have cabin leaders, health officers and cooks. ‘

"Each role is vital to the kids getting their week at camp. We’re waiting in faith and working towards recruiting to see who God is going to bring to our team for this summer.”

TMCB has campers arriving July 2nd and they have school groups in June and the first Joy Camp at the end of May.
