Turtle Mountain Bible Camp between Boissevain and Deloraine has had Howard and Kathy Weir as directors for 20 years and now a transition is underway.

The Weirs are stepping back and turning over some of the leadership duties to assistant director Chelsie Zylstra.

Kathy Weir says the timing is right for the move. “Chelsie has worked at the camp since 2014 and she’ll be taking over the responsibility of camp director and Howard and I will step back to the positions of camp directors.”

“She is very capable and has a heart for the ministry and we’re super excited to have her taking over the leadership.”

Chelsie Zylstra first came to the camp in the summer of 2010 and was hired in 2014 and she said back then it was part of the conversation then as to what succession would like for the camp. “Now that we’ve come out of the shutdown period it seems like a good time to make the transition.”

“Through conversations and a lot of prayer we are now starting this gradual transition,” said Zylstra.

Howard and Kathy Weir plan to take on the role of camp ambassadors. “We’ll spend our time visiting with churches and other campers, supporters and staff.”

Registrations are now being accepted for the 2023 summer camping sessions at Turtle Mountain Bible camp and officials are hoping for even stronger numbers than 2022.
