Manitobans can soon expect to see a fairly hefty cheque in the mail from Manitoba Public Insurance.
The Public Utilities Board has instructed M.P.I. to distribute a 45% rebate on our the 2009/10 vehicle premiums.
The average ratepayer will receive a rebate of $450, representing $320 million in total returns.
The unprecedented rebate is the result of the annual actuarial review of the corporation by the P.U.B.
The excess retained earnings were accumulated to provide for future costs arising from injured claimants.
The rebate will be paid out no later than May 31st.
