Boissevain has approximately 20 lots for sale in the new subdivision in town with a new incentive to purchase.  Council decided to drop purchase prices by 75%.

Head of council, Mayor Judy Swanson says there has been some interest but there hadn't been any strong commitments.  "So, we decided we would use it as a type of incentive, and to-date we have already sold 2 lots, and over a dozen inquiries. So, we're really excited about what's happening!"

The open lots are located on Schaffner Drive, Anderson Drive and Willis Crescent and are owned by the municipality.  "We thought that if we could get this started and give people the opportunity now.  Other things are increasing in price, so this is something we're going to decrease in price."

Building within one year of purchasing the lot is preferred.  All paperwork and building permits are done at the municipal office.

"It's just a way to get things started and to get the economy started again," adds Swanson.  "Housing is moving in Boissevain; there are lots of houses being sold. So, this is just one other way to make sure that these lots are affordable, and people who are looking at it they may decide now is the time."

"We're excited about this, and as a Council I think we're doing the right thing," she shares.  "Until June 30th, every lot up there is 75% off."
