The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have acquired Toronto’s first round pick (4th overall) in the 2011 CFL Draft, as well as their fourth round pick in the 2012 CFL Draft in exchange for quarterback Steven Jyles. The 2012 pick could upgrade to as high as a second round pick depending on how many games Jyles plays in for the Argos.

Jyles started ten games for the Blue Bombers last season, posting a 2-8 record. He was signed as a free agent by Winnipeg on February 23, 2010.

“We would like to thank Steven for his contributions to our football club last season,” said Vice-President of Football Operations and General Manager Joe Mack. “However, we felt as though this trade benefited our football team long-term as we were able to acquire two draft picks, one of which is a fourth overall this year, will in turn improve our Canadian content for years to come. With the importance of non-import players in our league, combined with how we feel about our current quarterback situation with Buck Pierce and our young quarterbacks, we’re very happy with the transaction we were able to complete today.”
