The outcome of Winnipeg's season finale with the Calgary Stampeders followed a familiar script. For the ninth time this season the Bombers lost a game by four points or fewer.

Rob Maver kicked his fourth field goal, a 38-yarder with 3:01 remaining as Calgary edged Winnipeg 35-32 at Canad Inns Stadium. Stampeders quarterback Henry Burris threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Romby Bryant on Calgary’s first possession of the game. Burris’ evening came to an end after Maver’s 41-yard field goal gave the Stamps an 11-0 lead five minutes into the game. Backup quarterback Drew Tate threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Randy Chevrier and a 39-yarder to Ken-Yon Rambo.

Winnipeg’s Joey Elliott also threw a pair of touchdown passes. The first was a 55-yarder to Cory Watson with 4:26 left in the first half. The second was a 27-yarder to Terence Jeffers-Harris midway through the fourth quarter.

Winnipeg head coach Paul LaPolice talked about Joey Elliott's performance against the Stamps.

Justin Palardy was good on field goal attempts from 24, 51, 38, 12, 41 and 16 yards. His 6th tied the game at 32 with 4:24 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Winnipeg record for field goals in a game is seven set by Trevor Kennerd on October 11th, 1981 against the Toronto Argonauts.

Winnipeg defensive tackle Doug Brown talked about loss number 14.

The Blue Bombers finished last in the Canadian Football League's East Division with a 4-14 record. That equals the 4-14 mark of Jeff Reinbold in 1997.
