The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will play their pre-season opener tonight (CJRB radio 1220 6:30 p.m.) when they meet the defending Grey Cup champion Alouettes in Montreal. A number of veterans including quarterback Buck Pierce, wide receiver Terrence Edwards and defensive tackle Doug Brown did not make the trip to Montreal as head coach Paul LaPolice will be taking a close look at the rookies who are hoping to crack the Blue Bombers 2011 roster.

 

 

Joey Elliott will be the starting quarterback. Alex Brink and Justin Goltz will also see some playing time behind centre.

 

 

CJRB Sports Director Clayton Dreger asked quarterback Alex Brink to comment on training camp.

 

 

Winnipeg's final pre-season game is Thursday, June 23rd at home against the Toronto Argonauts. Blue Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice was asked what a player has to do on the field in order to standout.

 

 

Winnipeg will open the 2011 Canadian Football League season on the road as they'll face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday, July 1st. The Bombers will play their home-opener on Friday, July 8th against the Argos.
