Assault / Possession of Prohibited Firearm

At approx. 12:05 PM Saturday, officers were called to a disturbance in the 1300 block of 8th St.  Upon arrival the officers observed a male throw a firearm out the back door.  The firearm was recovered by police.  It was identified as a .22 caliber rifle that had been sawed off.  The female resident disclosed that she had been struck several times in the face by the male that police witnessed discarding the weapon.

The 21-year-old male was arrested for the following charges, Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition, Careless Storage of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, 2 counts of Assault, and 3 counts of Failing to Comply with a Release Order.  One of the conditions he was found breaching was a 24-hour curfew, which required him to be at completely separate address in Brandon.  The male will be held for court later today.

Fail to Comply with Release Order

At approx. 12:05 AM Sunday, officers were called to a residence in the 600 block of 8th St for an intoxicated male.  Upon arrival they located a 32-year-old intoxicated male, who, upon further investigation was found to be the subject of a Release Order.  That Order required the male to comply with a daily curfew of 9 PM to 7 AM, and ordered he be at a specific address other than where he was found.  The male was arrested and will be held for court later today.

Breach of the Peace

In three separate incidents Police members dealt with intoxicated males that were causing problems to the point they were arrested for breach of the peace.  In all three cases the arrested parties were held in the Brandon Police Service detention section to prevent an escalation of the disturbances, and to ensure their safety until sober.
