March 9, 2024:

Theft Under / Fail to Comply with Release Order

At approx. 5:15 PM Friday police were called to a retail outlet for a male loading his backpack with meat.  The same male had been in the store earlier in the day and was seen leaving after filling the same bag with meat and leaving without paying.  Officers attended and arrested the male for theft.  During a search incident to arrest the 35-year-old male was found to be in possession of 8 knives. 

Further investigation revealed that the accused is currently the subject of a Release Order with conditions that include not to attend the store he was arrested in, as well as not to possess any knives.  He was charged with theft under $5000 and fail to comply with a Release Order.  He will be held at the Brandon Police Service to appear in court today.

Assault Peace Officer / Fail to Comply with Undertaking

At approx. 3:30 AM Saturday, a taxi pulled up to the Emergency Department of the Brandon Regional Health Centre with a highly intoxicated female in the car.  The driver of the taxi spoke to police officers who were there on an unrelated matter, requesting assistance.  The officers attempted to assist in getting the 26-year-old female out of the taxi and she became assaultive by kicking at the officer. 

As the officer continued efforts to get her out of the taxi the female bit the officer on the hand. The female was arrested for assault peace officer, further investigation has revealed that she is not abiding by an Undertaking which stipulates that she observe a daily curfew.  The female is being held at the Brandon Police Service until sober at which time she will be released with a court date of May 23.

Assault Peace Officer  

At approx. 5:20 AM Saturday, officers were called to an address on Lark St for a highly intoxicated female causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. Prior to police arrival the female had gone outside and was throwing snowballs against the windows.  Officers attended and arrested the 22-year-old female.  During arrest she kicked one of the officers and was therefore charged with assault peace officer.  She will be held until sober and then revealed with a court date of May 23.

 

March 10, 2024:

Traffic stop leads to Drug Charges

Police conducted a traffic stop at approximately 5:24pm in the 300 block of 14th St. The subsequent investigation led to the discovery of approximately 2oz. of cocaine and 25gr. of Meth. A 37-year-old Brandon man has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and will appear in Court in May. A 36-year-old female was also charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, as well as Take Motor Vehicle without Consent and Failing to Comply with her Release Order. The Minnedosa, MB resident will appear in Court today.

 Man arrested for Breaching Probation Order

At 7:37pm, Police were called to a business in the 900 block of 18th St. N. for an individual who was in the store despite being barred. The 26-year-old Brandon man was also found to be on a Probation Order not to attend that same store. He was released on an Appearance Notice and will appear in Court in May.

Unendorsed Warrant Executed

At 8:30pm Police stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Lorne Ave where it was learned that the operator of the vehicle did not have a valid driver’s license. It was then discovered that the 42-year-old man from Griswold, MB had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for failing to comply with his Undertaking. He will appear in Court today.

 Assault with a Weapon

At approximately 11:30pm, Police responded to a residence in the 200 block of Victoria Ave E. for a weapons related call. Upon attending it was learned that a 13-year-old had come to the residence acting erratically and swung a hatchet at another person, striking him on the face with the blunt end of the hatchet. The male youth from Brandon was eventually located, charged and released on an Undertaking to appear in Court in May. The victim of the assault had no visible injuries.

 Break and Enter

In the early morning hours of Sunday March 10th, at around 4:30am, Police received a call from a tenant at a residence in the 700 block of 9th St. believing someone was trying to break into a vacant suite. Members arrived to find the rear door had been forced open and located a male inside. The 35-year-old Brandon man was arrested and lodged to be released on an Undertaking to appear in Court in May.
