The summer of 2022 resembles a more normal year at the Riverbank Discovery Centre along the Assiniboine River in Brandon.

The past two summers have been quite different compared to years before the pandemic.

General Manager James Montgomery says it’s nice to see lot of vehicles in the parking lot.

“We’ve had a lot of out of province and some out of country visitors. A lot of out of province license plates in the parking lot at all times and that includes a lot of campers and even people from over seas in campers.”

Montgomery looks back to Canada Day and the success of that celebration with a lot of people on the grounds, the weather cooperated and Montgomery called it a real success. “It was nice to have so many people on the grounds and not having to stand six feet apart anymore.”

The future looks busy for the Riverbank Discovery Centre with lots of dates booked to use the various venues.

“If I look at my calendar here it’s very booked up with things like the farmer’s market that we have every Saturday, a senior’s fit class throughout the week, we’ve got concerts so there’s lots going on and most days we have something booked” said James Montgomery.

He adds there is still availability if people want to rent things like the stage for as little as $25 per hour.
