The Municipality of Boissevain-Morton plans to celebrate volunteers in the community.

A Volunteer Night will take place March 21st at the Boissevain Community Centre and organizers hope to see about 100 people out for the meal and presentation.

Melissa Perkins works for the municipality and is coordinating the celebration. “This is something that the municipality has been wanting to do for a while. It has two parts to it and one is a volunteer appreciation because our community is so fortunate to have these people willing to run these programs and services.”

The second part is a presentation by a representative from Volunteer Manitoba.

“We’re looking to offer these groups resources and we’re bring out the speaker to give the volunteers and clubs extra tools to work with in the community.”

Perkins says there have been struggles attracting new volunteers and a number of individuals sit on many boards and do many jobs in the community.

“Boissevain-Morton has more than 57 service clubs, groups and organizations that are run by volunteers,” said Melissa Perkins.

Organizers would like to see two representatives from each community group attend the volunteer appreciation night on March 21st.
