The Town of Carberry was thrilled to receive $4500 from the Westoba Credit Union Inspire Program to complete their project to install a zipline in the recreation area this summer.

Callie Sudak, the Manager of Leisure Services for the Town of Carberry, said allow them to finish the project they have been working on. "This is something new and exciting and when the group did the research they thought this would be fun for our residents."

“The Town of Carberry and the RM of North Cypress-Langford along with numerous residents and volunteers are working hard to create a new recreation area in town for all residents to enjoy for years to come,” said Sudak. “With a lot of fundraising completed thus far, we have been able to purchase the zipline; these funds will be used to purchase the required safety base needed for the structure.”

Westoba Branch Manager for Carberry and Ninette, Marie Bodnarchuk said this project will lend to the community economy through growth and tourism.

“The zipline is just one of many great and exciting things the Town of Carberry has been working on,” said Bodnarchuk. “It is great to see the community coming together to raise funds for these projects to grow the community and attract visitors.”

The Carberry recreation area will be adding just over a dozen new fully serviced campsites to their campground, as well as new soccer pitches.  Sudak says a new arena is also on their list for future upgrades, but that will be a few years down the road.

"We're working right now on the camping area, putting down the water and sewage and we're hoping to put the soccer pitches this year so the grass can mature, so we can use it next year," shares Saduk.

"A lot of money has been fundraised over the years," she adds.  "The town and the RM do work together to put some cash into it, and it's just ongoing.  I'm sure we'll put in for many more grants just to help us out.  It's a huge undertaking and a work in progress."

The funding from Westoba Inspire is part of Westoba’s 60th anniversary celebration and will be used to install the safety base with the project aimed at spring 2023.
