Gladwyn Scott meant a lot to Carberry both as a community supporter and avid sports fan and when has passed away in August of 2022 the Carberry Royals baseball team knew they had to do something special.

The team did some thinking and player-manager Warren Birch said erecting an electronic score board in his name was picked as the best idea. “Everybody knew his stature in the community, and we wanted to do something for Gladwyn because he was always there for the Royals. He was always the score keeper and we thought a scoreboard would be the perfect tribute.”

The team has been busy fund raising and has received some donations, one through the Carberry Foundation and another from the Birt Cup fund raising golf tournament hosted by Brandon University.

"Our team does fundraisers throughout the year, and we've done some already and plan to do another one sometime this summer."

The team hopes to order the clock later this year and have it installed in the spring of 2024.

“The scoreboard we’re going to purchase is a seven-inning board with balls and strikes and all the runs. It’s a bigger scoreboard and purchasing is one thing, and then there’s the work to get it installed. It’s a big project but it’s worth it,” said Warren Birch.

The electronic scoreboard will cost $25,000.
