The Manitoba Livestock Marketing Association (MLMA) is hosting the Cattlemen's Golf Classic is taking place this week at the Killarney Lakeside Golf Club.

The August 4th event is open to all livestock industry employees, cattle producers, grain producers and cattle industry service providers, with the mission to raise funds for the Marketing Association, but with a special intent.  The proceeds from the golf tournament goes directly back into the livestock industry for educational meetings for cattle producers on market projections and lobby efforts on behalf of the livestock industry on specific issues such as traceability, transportation, animal welfare and employee health and welfare.

Boissevain resident and Westman auctioneer, Rick Wright, is also a member of the MLMA.  He's very pleased to be helping to coordinate this event again.

"We've been off the radar for 2 years because of Covid cancellations and this year we were told to go ahead and host the event, and we've got a sell out crowd with 184 golfers booked, which is our maximum," shares Wright.

"Everybody is excited about the event," he adds. "Everybody wants to get out and mingle and network with people in the industry, people we haven't seen for a couple of years."
