A fed up citizen is petitioning the provincial government to implement security measures at the Hamiota Health Centre after a recent incident where a patient assaulted two nurses and a scheduling clerk.
Bev Patterson, who is also the husband of a nurse at the hospitpal, says he is asking security personnel to be placed in the facility after 5pm on weekdays and 24 hours during the weekends as well as gear all staff with personal panic buttons.

The incident which saw one nurse get stabbed repeatedly with a pen and beat with a piece of wood has caused significant trauma to not only the hospital staff, but to those who work at the adjoining personal care home.
The petition is available to sign at various businesses in the area and will be sent to the province next week.
