Linda Maendal is from the Elm River Colony near Newton, located west of Oakville. This past May she published a book called Hutterite Diaries.

The book brings a first hand perspective of colony life from someone who lives it every day.

Linda joined the Morning Show Tuesday to reflect on some of the stories included in the book, and why she decided to write it.

Woven together with faith, family and community, the collection of stories captures happy and sad events; including holidays, working together, childhood memories, hobbies, and many aspects about our communal life.

With that in mind, we asked Linda what she hopes readers get out of the book.

We also asked Linda to share one of her favourite stories from the book, and little did we know it would be one with such a powerful message.

You can buy your of Hutterite Diaries at the Grant Park McNally Robinson in Winnipeg, Heritage Books in Portage, at the James Valley Book Centre near Elie or the Hutterian Brethren Book Centre at Baker Colony near MacGregor.
