The Centre for Transnational Mennonite Studies is getting set to hold their annual conference again at the University of Winnipeg October 21st and 22nd and they're quite thrilled to be able to do it at all. This year, the conference is titled, "Departing Canada: Experiencing Latin America" and really it's in celebration of 100 years since the Mennonite emigration from Canada to Mexico and Paraguay.

Ben Nobbs-Thiessen is the Chair in Mennonite Studies at the University of Winnipeg, and is a co-director of the Centre with Dr. Aileen Friesen.

We werre thrilled to connect with Ben on the Morning Show this week us to talk about the upcoming conference, especially since it coincides so nicely with the exhibit that has been on display in the Mennonite Heritage Village gallery for the last while in Steinbach, all about the Mennonite migration 100 years ago.

If you already know you'd like to be there, the conference is free and you can register in advance on their website www.ctms.uwinnipeg.ca and it will also be live streamed for those who can't attend.

You can listen to Morning Show Co-Host Michelle Sawatzky's conversation with Ben below.
