The second round of WTO Dispute Panel oral hearings on American country-of-origin labelling is underway in Geneva.

Canada and Mexico say the legislation has had a negative impact on livestock sales into the U.S. The American defense is arguing COOL was constructed only to inform consumers and has no negative impact.

The hearing will be followed by further written submissions through February. A final panel report is slated to be published in July 2011. An appeal would most likely take place the following year.
