Sutton Olson scored a powerplay goal with 6:25 left in the third period as the Southwest Cougars edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3 at the Souris Glenwood Memorial Complex. Cameron Rowat added a pair of goals for the Cougars while the other went to Hudson Morrison. Carson Perreaux scored twice for the Wheat Kings. Southwest goaltender Gage Murray stopped 20 of 23 shots. The Cougars improved to 7-4-0-1 and moved back into first place in the Manitoba "AAA" Midget Hockey League's West Division. Southwest is one point ahead of the Central Plains Capitals and three points up on Brandon. The Cougars will play a pair of games in Deloraine this weekend. Southwest will meet the Parkland Rangers on Friday and the Yellowhead Chiefs on Sunday.
