Jesse Bernard had two goals and an assist as the the Southwest Cougars beat the Winnipeg Wild 5-3 at MTS IcePlex in a game between Manitoba "AAA" Midget Hockey League Division leaders. Tanner Butler, Cameron Rowat and Tanner Serruys also scored for the Cougars who were 3-for-4 with the manadvantage. Southwest goaltender Brian Archibald stopped 25 of 28 shots from the top team in the East Division.The Cougars, who beat the Norman Northstars 7-1 in Souris on Friday and then downed the Interlake Lightning 4-1 in Stonewall on Saturday, improved their record to 18-5-0-1. Southwest is five points ahead of the second place Brandon Wheat Kings. The Cougars next game is Thursday in Shoal Lake against the Yellowhead Chiefs.
