Due to very low sign-up for Series A delivery, the Canadian Wheat Board will be starting Series B delivery calls earlier than normal this year.

Glenn Tole, director of farmer services with the CWB, explains wet weather and the late harvest have made delivery difficult for many farmers. As a result, Series B delivery calls will begin on November 1.

"Most years, A Series sign-up would end on October 31st. In the past, we've extended that deadline to accomodate late deliveries or late contracts. This year we just decided with the low volume sign-up on the A because of the harvest situation, we would cut off the A and open the B to give farmers equal access," explains Tole.

By having Series B calls start early, farmers who are still unsure of their grades and volumes can still have the opportunity to immediately deliver.

Series B sign-up runs until January 31st.

The board has also announced a Gauaranteed Delivery Contract for Number 1 and 2 Canada Western Amber Durum. The CWB wants farmers to deliver durum wherever possible to meet existing sales commitments.
